Safety Disclaimer

Home appliances combine electricity, water, heat and, in some cases, natural gas or propane. Working on them can cause electric shock, fire, burns, flooding or carbon monoxide exposure. Please read this page before following any guide on CodeFix Home.

Before any check

  • Unplug the appliance or switch off its circuit breaker.
  • Turn off the water supply for washers and dishwashers before touching hoses or filters, and have towels ready.
  • For gas dryers and ranges, do not disconnect or adjust any gas connection. Gas work is for licensed professionals only.
  • Let heating appliances cool down before touching internal or exhaust parts.

Stop immediately and get professional help if

  • You smell gas (leave the area and contact your gas utility or emergency services from outside).
  • You see sparks, smoke, scorch marks or melted parts, or smell burning.
  • Water is leaking near electrical components or outlets.
  • A carbon monoxide alarm sounds.
  • A guide tells you to stop, or you are unsure about the next step.

What we do not cover

We do not publish instructions for gas-line work, refrigerant or sealed-system repairs, live electrical measurements, or microwave internals. These require licensed professionals.

Warranty

Opening or repairing an appliance yourself may affect its warranty. If your appliance is under warranty, contact the manufacturer first.

Our guides are general information based on the manufacturer documentation we cite. They are not reviewed by licensed technicians and do not replace your owner’s manual or a qualified professional. See our Terms of Use. Questions: contact@codefixhome.com.
